Exhaust system, stainless or mild steel

Stainless or mild steel?
My exhaust system is ugly but fully functional, heat shields are rusted away cat been replaced o2 sensor replaced new bung ugly weld, old sensor still there wires cut.
I see on eBay reasonable priced mild steel systems around $1500, stainless systems are $3000 from online sellers.
My car has 41000 miles, spent sometime up north, body work is excellent no rust
Opinions, encouraged

IF you can afford it go for SS exhaust as it can be forever so one time and last time buying.
PLus if you spend big bucks you can get it polished all shiny and bright.

Next up would be some sort of anodized aluminum pipe.

LAstly would be raw steel as it will rust quickly.
