R107 SL with Sunroof in removable hardtop
Yes, a sunroof in the removable hardtop.
My father was big on this customization when he was buying these cars new. His girlfriend's '79 450 SL had it, my mother's '85 380 SL had it, and I think he turned one or two more people on to it.
The jobs were done by some German craftsman named Ludwig in his basement on Long Island. It was very well done when finished from both the outside and the inside. Even the headliner at the bottom of the sunroof matched up. There was a little electrical clip to plug in on the passenger side, and the switch was in the top itself.
So, I was just wondering if any of these cars have popped up here?
I helped my mother sell her's around 1999 in Southern California and got her an SLK 230. There was no premium paid for the sunroof I can tell you. The '79 was sold in New York in the late 80's.

Sorry, nada. I owned many, many nice cars in my life, and I barely have any pictures of any of them. Usually I only took pictures when I sold them. For example, I owned a Ferrari Daytona for 11 years, and the only pictures I remember taking were on an old style digital camera when I sold it, and I have no idea where that camera or the images are. Stupid me!
