Trunk refresh
Hi - excited to say minor repairs are just about completed on the ‘72 I’m restoring. Needed a new brake master cylinder and reservoir and a full tune up - seems to run great now according to my mechanic. Once I get her how, it’s time to work through detail items like posting chrome, repairing exterior trim, etc.
question - the boot of the car has all vinyl mats in it; they don’t even seem to fit great. Not on the top of my priority list but I would like to eventually it, perhaps with carpet.
has anyone tried this, and with an eBay kit in particular? Example linked below.
Not sure if the carpet in this kit is backed with heavy cardboard or particle board to make for a more stable fit, need to do my homework on that. Anyone try any other method to refresh the boot? I have a white 350SL with green interior and a blank soft top. I’m thinking of doing the boot in black carpet. As green isn’t a popular choice to fine - and I intend to get the car wrapped in glossy black in the short term, I’m not crazy won’t the white but the deal was too good to be true!

US cars from around 1980 or so have the battery in the trunk on the right side, this changes the carpet setup on the floor and that side. Can't tell if this set works is this version or not. Something to look out for.

Thanks for the reply. My battery is in the engine compartment (1972). Only know that off hand as I replaced it as part of the restoration. Once my car is back in my garage I’ll look at options, it’s presently just a bunch of vinyl mats that don’t look great. Then again who sees them. Just being ****.
