SL/R107: Looking for single-row timing chain with keeper
Bought 1982 380 SL "garage queen" December 2024. Spent a couple months underneath replacing several rubber frame componenets (front and rear subframe mounts, shocks, steering damper, etc) , getting green goop out of fuel tank (along with fuel pump check valve, accumulator, fuel filter), have replaced column coupling and steering sector (two sectors from different rebuilders) with so-called "rebuilt" units (still not happy), Injectors and seals, Rebuilt cluster (trip odometer repaired, movements rebuilt). Other stuff....car is daily driver now.
Timing chain has minimal stretch... cam gear hash mark with crank at TDC is slightly retarded. Rails and guides look OK...so far. I cannot find a replacement, single-row chain that uses a master link that incorporates a (hairpin-ish) keeper....only found a master link that requires the press / bradding device. I do NOT want to pull the engine out to sub the dual-row chain kit (yes...I agree THAT is the best fix). Anybody found a single-row chain with the keeper-style master link?
Thanks
