Vacuum cleanup

Hi guys, i own 1975 450sl.
After buyint it i was told that 1975 and 1976 year models are worst ones because of complicated emissions systems. So i am curious did anybody who has these years models simplified these system by removing vacuum hoses?

No, because that would create significant vacuum leaks, unless you methodically go through and plug all the lines. Most of the lines are related to the AIR injection pump and how and when to engage that pump. That pump injects air into the exhaust ports and burns and unburned hydrocarbons.

The proper way to remove the pump and all its vacuum hoses and valves is to put plugs in the heads where the injection ports are.
