When I purchased the car, the odometer stopped working. So, I had the shop send out the required piece from the odometer to be repaired. It worked for 200 miles, then stopped working again. Would this piece happen to be something that looks like a small gear? I would like to fix it myself, but I do not have a manual or clue where it is in the engine. Does anyone know the location of the odometer attachment within the engine?

Also, I'm looking for a replacement part for the passenger side mirror - it's the rectangular, plastic piece that covers the wiring for the power mirror - located on the inside part of the door.

I had mine break on my slc
It broke in the speedometer itself
I had to send it to a local speedometer shop
they are online.
Also the gear you are seeking is at the transmission.

There is no gear on the '81 and I doubt there is one on the '83. It uses an inductive pickup. The transducer is mounted to the side of the transmission.

I ended up getting a new speedometer by my local shop. It was expensive, but everything works now. They bought if from MB, who set the mileage.

I think you can purchase the little chrome triangle piece on the inside of your mirror (if that's what your looking for) from Performance Products. www.performanceproducts.com. I think I recall seeing the part in their print catelog for the w107. Good luck.
