Automobile Mag's Article on Dragin' an SL65
If you haven't seen it, it's very comical, and I'm sure any of us who have taken a 55 or 65 to the drag strip can relate. They had an editor take an SL65 to the local "Friday Night Drags" and relate his experience, from the funny looks, the off-the-cuff coments, and of course the absolute shock when they saw what it ran (best was 11.80 @ 117). There was also an article similar to this one in the March 2005 Sports Car International magazine. They took a Silver SL65 to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma and could not best 12.19 at 120. They chalk it up to poor traction during launch, but perhaps it was really the driver since many others have bested that number with stock tires, while managing the wheel spin as best possible.
We need to get these magazines a ride in Treynor's SL65 (or any of you other lucky ones who have enhanced their SL65) so they can fully appreciate the full potential of this beast with drag radials and ECU programming.
