I ordered the part in brilliant silver (the color is not in the part number). When it arrived today, I discovered that it wasn't at all like the black holder that I had installed. I talked to the dealer about it, and they said that that part is for the SL500. So I ordered another copy of the right holder, which doesn't come in colors. The dealer will get it painted, and I'll swap it in.

You probably should stick to the holder that you have, since to put on the right holder would entail an extra set of holes in *your* bumper.

On a more serious note, CASL55, sorry that the part is different. It does fit on my car with the little tabs going between the grill and the bumper. I've taken it off and plan to get the tiny holes filled @ some point. I'm curious, your fits and doesn't cover the lower grill?

Thanks! You should see it when it is sunny! Here are some pics of the Silver Arrow paint. It's really hard to show the metal flake but I think these catch it a little. Also, it's a whiter color than the brilliant silver. Sorry the car is dirty.

It's just an ordinary California vanity plate. I think it's something like $90 and then 50 or 60 bucks a year, some of which goes to coastal causes. The CA DMV has a pretty nice web site where you can see if your combination is taken, and preview what your license plate will look like.

They also censor you if you get too creative. I remember that years ago they issued the plate QQQQ, but later recalled it.

Every time I buy a new car, it's always a challange to find a plate that's not taken that you don't have to explain to everybody. This one is just fair in that regard; most people have forgotten their high school chemistry.
