19 Chrome AMG Double Spoke Rims + Tires

I have a set of Chrome 19" AMG Style IV Double Spoke Rims and Bridgestone Potenza Tires from an 2005 SL55 in NYC. The chrome is excellent without any curb damage and the tires have under 7500 miles. The fronts rims are 19x8.5 with 255/35/R19 and the rear rims are 19x10 with 285/30/R19.

I would go with 20"s... the ride is not noticeably any stiffer, or differant, but traction and performance are definitely majorly increased.

Just upgraded to these 20"s from 19" AMG Style IV

I believe the issue is the heat generated and the ability of the tire to dissapate/deal with the heat. Realize we're talking a 4800 lb car riding on 30 profile 19" tires!

In the US, this is likely less of an issue. Here is a pic of the SL65 show car.

4800 pounds....you have some hefty passengers!! Actually Michelin makes some PS2's that can handle the weight as well. I have had my car over 200mph and the tire presssures only went up by 1-2 pounds per corner at speed, so they must be handling the heat quite well.

According to amg-owners-club.org, the 20" tires and wheels never passed AMG certification. If you read posts from Angusdawe who has tried this tire/wheel combo multiple times, you'll find he blew several tires at high speed!

The 2007 S65's have standard 20" wheels and tires and if they passed AMG certification on a 5000lb car with 600+ horses....it must be fine on all AMG cars id think
