Demolished a Ducati

The really sweet bike kills are few and far between. Today I added one to my roster. Coming back from the bicycle shop (my wife demanded an upgrade from her stone-age touring rig) in the RENNtech SL65 on Foothill expressway, what do I spot ahead but a black & red motorcycle... alone in his lane... with no one next to him. I pick up the pace to catch him, and end up gliding past as we roll toward the stoplight at San Antonio. The bike is a Ducati, not a model I'm familiar with (i.e. not a 996 / 748) and sounds like a single or a twin. This could be interesting

At about 10 MPH the light changes, and I listen for a moment... YES, he nails the gas and a moment later so do I. I see his front wheel pull even with my peripheral vision, then fade backwards as the SL's turbos come online in 2nd gear and launch the car forward. By 70 MPH or so it's over, the bike a couple carlengths back. When I stop accelerating the Ducati catches up and paces me, the pilot staring at me or the car. This goes on for half a mile.

At the next light there's traffic in both lanes, and the bike takes advantage of the situation to lane-split to the front and leave me behind. However, I work my way through the traffic, and at the NEXT light the bike's clear and I'm right on his tail. The light turns and he guns it; I'm right on his tail, pulling into the other lane once we clear the intersection and then WOT and I'm pulling around him and putting carlengths on the thundering two-wheeler. Again by 80 (or so ) the race is clearly over, with several carlenghts between the SL and the Duck.

At the next light (Page Mill) he turns off the expressway and speeds away, undoubtedly in search of something slower... like a Viper.

Ah, spring!

Nice Kill on the Duc. However, if you see the new Gixxer 1000 or R1(04 and up), please save your gas cuz you will embrass yourself.

Don't take me wrong....I rode in a stock SL65 (non Rentech) and that car is just FAST. We were racing with my other friend's SL55 and we past him like he was going backward!!

I know - I used to roadrace a Graves YZF-R1 Those new literbikes are pretty quick... I'd have to pull out the SRT/10 before picking on them.

'05 SL 55 Black/Black w/mods from Eurocharged/Kleemann/BuckheadImports
Question What about the upcoming "Super SL 69"??

It is obvious that hardly any factory sport bikes, let alone cars, can take on a Renntech SL 65 .....

But now I have a serious question for you guys, so let's just for the sake of conversation allow ourselves to imagine that Mercedes will produce a "Super Light" hardcore SL 69, thereby assuming they will bore the engine out and greatly increase the horsepower and torque, and lighten the weight also.

So the question is: If the Renntech SL 65 is this fast, then what kind of cars out there do you guys/girls think will be able to atleast attempt to take on a Renntech-chipped SuperLight SL 69 ??
Now the increase in acceleration between a standard SL 65 and a Super SL 69 will probably be like upgrading from a standard SL 500 to a Renntech modified SL 55 .... thus a SuperLight SL 69 would be absolutely mind-blowing in terms of raw speed and power capabilities. I'm sure Benz is going to upgrade the car's trans and other components so that it can safely handle these increased power outputs, so Renntech and Kleemann will definitely take advantage of the built in "Over-engineering" to increase it further .... :v

Geez we might actually see Kleemann and Renntech chipped cars within the next 2 years with power outputs over 800 horsepower and torque around 1,000 lb/ft .... just too awesome to say the least. :v :p

P.S. -- Treynor do you have any new vids with sound of your Renntech SL 65? We'd all love to see and hear them .... thanks again ....

P.S. #2: Anyone have any concept sketches or photographs or photoshops of what a special "Super-Light SL 69" would look like? Maybe similar to this Carlsson upgraded SL?
