SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL 55 vs. 575M vs. Vanquish vs. 911TT vs. Murcielago
They actually used instrumented testing, a first form what I've ever seen in Automobile mag. They have the SL 55 timed at 0-60 in 4.6s, the 1/4 mile in 12.8 @ 116mph and 0-100 in 10.0 seconds flat.
the 575M was 0-60 in 4.4, 1/4 in 12.7@116mph, and 0-100 in 9.8 sec.
They did say the SL 55 was a better track car than the 575M and the Vanquish.
The SL55, for what it is, is an AMAZING deal. Honestly, a 575/550 is a GT cruiser (don't get me wrong, I'll still end up with a 575 also) - but you don't track it, etc. Same with the SL55, it's a freeway cruiser. BUT, this thing is daily drivable, can be convertible, has all the comforts in the world AND costs almost 100k less? YES PLEASE!

0.29 and 520lbs/ft take over!!!!!
with the optional pano roof, I think you have the best of both worlds with the SL55!!!
By the way, my dad is thinking of replacing his 456GT with the SL55. Is that a wise choice? The 456GT has great looks, sound and fury but lacks the straightline performance of the SL55. But straight line performance is not everything.
Will the SL55 outmatch the 456GT in terms of handling, sound (hard to beat a Ferrari V12 with Tubi), driving involvement and excitement?
Lonman: Have you driven (or owned) both?
We would greatly appreciate some opinions.
Thanks,
Baron
