SL55 beats M5 on the Track!

I also noticed that SL55 rated 476 bhp... i think the first year was a detuned version of it?? Not sure, And also the track tempreture is pretty much colder then when M5 was tested!

The new M5 looks to be a dog in training. I could probably give it a pretty good run in my modded C32.

SL55 AMG

The lower temperature of the SL55 test favour that car. The simple laws of physics, more power, lower weight, higher power to weight ratio mean that with other things being equal, the M5 will beat the SL55.

The source is from inside the M departement, BUT nobody are paying much attention to it. The 8 min 13 is what we so far are using as the correct time. Some BMW-test driver may have the capability to run a sub 8 min but thats not comparable to other times, so IMO it does not count.

Easy, they have moved the spot for the measuring equipment.

If you look at early test and compare with later tests you will see the difference.

So they are in many cases NOT comparable.

I am not sure it is an official claim, what I have heard is app 8 min laps prior to launch, but it has been so many rumours abut this, as earlier informed, 8 min 13 is the "officially recorded" time on the M5.
