Another Brake Recall
Received a letter from MB today, recalling my car for the third time to fix the brakes. This time, apparently, vibration in the SBC Control Unit can cause intermittent electrical connections and the SBC to drop into fail-safe mode.
They're taking it seriously - offering a free courtesy car while the work is done and they will also be doing all other upgrades and service bulletin work on the car at the same time (not just SBC related).
Actually quite encouraged by this, MB appear to have bitten the bullet and decided the only way they can claw back their reputation for quality is to sort out the 1m+ cars with SBC already out there.

blueSL - have you had your recall work done yet?
Mine has just been completed; they kept the car two days. Not sure exactly what they did but job sheet lists numerous bits have been replaced including an SBC box, mounting brackets and hoses. I was told they have also reprogrammed the SBC unit and unless I am imagining things the braking now seems to have a more progressive feel to it. It feels more like a conventional car braking system.
