Aston Martin Vantage. Expensive emotional buy compared to an SL55
WHY would ANYONE want to get a vantage w/the onset of the the new SL55?
THe SL55 is FASTER all across the board, better handling, braking. IS a hardtop CONVERTIBLE, better interior appointments and cost almost 60 grand LESS than that big british bulldog.
THe Vantage ranges from 180K-200K in the U.S.
THe SL55 will most likely be on the 100K-120K range.
For the price of the Vantage..I could get an SL55(120K), get some nice HRE wheels(10k), buy a 2000 Lexus SC400(35k), supercharge THAT to 500-600hp(15K) and have TWO luxury cars to whoop the vantage's *** for the same price!
GO figure.

Different appeal. Vantage is plenty fast, and it's not really a driver's car. They're brilliant to drive, but I much prefer the simply AMAZING Vanquish.
The SL55 will, however, change the market. It's going after a lot of bigger fish!

Hi all, I currently have a 2006 CLS55 AMG and I am considering trading it in to buy a 2007 or 2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage. I love my CLS55 but I have always wanted an Aston Martin and the Vantage is a beautiful car too. What are your thoughts?

Very different cars - I do like the Vantage but...
I agree with okbarnett. I looked at a number of 2007/2008 v8 vantages before I purchased the SL63 for a similar price. Very nice looking car, but didn't "feel" as fast as the SL 63. Also had trouble finding one that didn't have a funky coloured interior. I also liked the hardtop convertible and solid feel of the Mercedes. I think it comes down to personal preferences though, good luck with your decision, I'm sure you'll enjoy either one.

CLS550 AMG Pkg.
IMO the Aston exudes a different type of character as opposed to the SL. Rolling up in the SL says that you are a doctor or a lawyer...rolling up in the Aston says you could be a spy...just my $0.02

I had one of the first V8 Vantages in the country for about a year. Brilliant, stunning, and bullet proof.... but not as quick as the SL55.
I never had an issue with the car.
Mine was a coupe, I think I will be shopping for a roadster this year.
