Title branded "Buy-Back"

I see many SL55's on eBay that were bought back by Mercedes due to various problems. Mercedes & the seller swear that they have corrected the problem. My question is this: Are these vehicles a good purchase & how badly will the "BUYBACK" title effect resale? Thanks in advance.

It affects the resale value, but if the car is still under warranty there is not too much unecessary risk. Find out what the reason for buy back is: There are a few issues that seem common with the AMG cars (stalling, airbag light, etc.) which other board members have had fixed successfully. MBZ has a lot of buy-back cars these days, the company seems to really wants to keep owners happy.

I have seen plenty as well. I would say you could probably save yourself 10-12k with a completely sorted out buy back but you would get that much less when you sell it as well. Too me, it wouldn't be worth the risk of being stuck with a car that no one wants for the up front discount. I see some sit for months with no issues much less trying to unload a lemon buy back. Now if I was keeping the car for ten years I wouldn't care as much.

I couldn't agree more. I think it is difficult enough to sell a used luxury car as it is. I can't imagine it being an easy task selling one with additional mileage and a "bad" title. Most places wouldn't even take it on a trade-in.

Only time Id buy a lemon law car is if it was at the auction and it was really cheap... Buying at the retail level isnt worth unless you plan on keeping the car forever, because it will be very hard to sell.
