Pagani uses it exclusively now, but I have heard of one or two other manufacturers who managed to put a few in their vehicles, and they will now retrofit a CLK GTR with one too...so it would be posssible to see something going down the road that has actually been modded with that engine....
The Pagani site has a couple of fairly decent pics of that motor....

Those are the only pics that I have on my laptop of the R129 (still getting used to that nomenclature) SL73. They were produced as custom-order.
I really don't see why they couldnt put the 7.3 in an R230 if a customer wanted them to.... Brabus retrofits V12's in various MBZ vehicles, for instance....
I am currently debating fitting the 7.3 motor in two cars of mine. I'm not sure that the current biturbo 6L V12 isn't hot enough(!).
And yes, Pagani is using the AMG 7.3 as the (start of their) motor in the Zonda.
This 7.3 motor has been fitted (or retrofitted) in the occasional MBZ -- and I've been told some other cars as well.
So perhaps this car is indeed a new iteration of the SL73????
Cool.

And I have another where it is compared to a Bentley. I'll upload it too.

Thanks, sprins.
I have seen this one - got me interested in doing an SL73....
I still prefer the current SL with the 5.5 in it, though. I've looked at the SL65 a couple of times at least -- but I've never gotten one.
Would an SL73 be that much differetn, that much better? Probably -- that is one heckuva motor(!).
But I just don't want my MBZ roadster to be that much of an animal...part of its charm to me is retractable hardtop roadster, grand-tourer -- not as a supercar or exotic.....
To each his own?

The SL73 was a special model that they produced in very small numbers later on. There was also an SL60 with the same 6.0L V8 as the earlier E60. Neither of these were officially sold in the US, to my knowledge.
Brabus also had a 7.3L version of the V12, which they stuffed into an E500 as well as the S, CL, and SL. RENNtech had a 7.4L version.
Note: The 381hp figure for the AMG 6.0 always seemed low to me, and it has been confirmed by an E60 owner that they actually produce over 400hp, but were underrated to protect the contemporary 600 flagships.

WRT the SL73, I think it'll be most drivable like all Mercedes. You can race in it, and your granny can go shopping in it.
Apart from that, the Sl55 kompressor has better specs than the SL73, even though it has more power & torque. And I think the ABC helps a lot.

I really like the package of the SL55. I will be switching them out to the new one for the new technology (and interior as well).
I have thought about the idea of dropping a 7.3 in there, though -- love that engine(!). But I really do think that it would just be too much, and I really do like the SL55 package as it is (with the 030 Pkg and uprated interior trim from AMG Manufaktur).
I am still debate doing a Brabus EV12 or SV12.....
Thanks for sharing.
Edit: I'll tell you what - I will talk to AMG about the 7.3....

From what I know (and that is limited) the Pagani people use the (old) 7,2 liter (73 engine) as a basis for their magic because of the low weight. But for real power the 6,0 liter AMG biturbo smokes all of them.
So what would be the USP of the 73 engine?
