Hi folks,
After much debate I have crossed over into the "dark side" and traded my M5 in for an SL55.
It was a hard decision to make, but after a few days of seat time, I'm very much impressed with this machine.
The car is an 04, Brilliant/Berry with every option except the Sat. Radio. I'm trying to get a definitive answer as to what parts are required to do the installation. I've gotten conflicting information from various dealers, so I was hoping someone with first hand knowledge could chime in on the topic.
Thanks in advance.

Out Of Control!!
Congrats on your purchase. If your car is like the E class, it will be pre-wired if it is an 05 or older. The cost is prohibitively expensive to convert the 06 E classes. Good luck and post more often. One overy other is a bit on the "light side", I would say.

If your radio has a 'SAT' button which currently does not function, the cost to have a dealer install the sirius radio option should be around $1100. That includes painting the satellite antenna to match your car color and 6 months of sirius service. The antenna's are available in black, silver or primer, so your color would require the painting otherwise it would be alittle less expensive. I believe the parts go for $750 but you would have to paint the antenna, install the parts and re-program the radio to activate the 'SAT' button.

I have Sirius on my 04 sl55. The aftermarket antenna is under the grill screen in front of the windshield on the passenger side. I would recommend the left side as overhanging trees on side roads can interfere with your signal. I didn't want a hole drilled in my trunk and this application was perfect. By the way, I found the info on the antenna on this site a few months ago. Motorwerks in Bloomfield Hillds did the work for me. Call Billy or Satish at 248-668-6793. He'll give you the costs etc. It is a very easy application.

Forgot to add that I paid for a "lifetime" subscription to Sirius which allows 3 car trades when you trade in or lease expires. Ask them about it when you sign up Also, after your Sirius system and antenna is installed you need a code to activate it. Your Mercedes dealership will do it for free.
