Letter from MB... free upgrade
I meant to have put this posting in this forum but managed to get it in the SL one..
Received a letter from MB (France) saying that they want to do a free upgrade on my SL55 and would I give the letter to my dealer the next time I am there. The letter did not specify what the upgrade is for. I have had ABS and ABC probems and recently had to pay over € 4000 replacing the rear shocks (still get ABC warnings though now and then). I am almost scrared to go in as there seems to be a new problem every time one is fixed! Has anyone else received such a letter? Any idea what upgade they want to do?

I too am recently having ABC errors ("ABC! Visit workshop!" in the malfunction display). Restarting the car clears the malfunction. I had the dealer look into it and thet determined a malfunctioning sensor in the ABC strut (left front). The ABC strus seems to be working fine, the problem seems to be the sensor in the strut (which cannot be replaced) which requires the while strut to be replaced (€1200 for the strut + labour == €2.000 for sure). Rear struts have both been replaced on warranty in the past.
I've attached the error from star-diagnostic. Does that look like your fault?
About the letter, I have no idea. The dealer should be able to tell you what they are going to replace.
Where are you located? France right? Perhaps we can team up to share a lawyer to 'convince' Mercedes Europe.
