Question SL 55....some market pressure off?

What do you think?...I think todays mass annoucement of the release of the new E55, CL55 and S55 will take some of the market pressure off the SL 55...I think a number of people with reservations on the SL 55 will switch over to one of the others for a variety of reasons...price, availability, personal/practical reasons...

p.s. I sure hope AMG keeps it's quality top notch as it ups production..

SL55 AMG
It would be good to think so, but equally, other people who had ruled out the SL because of number of seats or whatever may now be interested in having the SL55 engine in their cars and that will surely lead to an overall increase in demand for AMG engines which I guess is where the bottleneck is.

It would be so nice to feel that Mercedes, for once, had put production capacity in place before announcing the cars. Too often it seems, the marketing guys announce the cars and then the production guys ask "you mean you actually want us to make some?"

Yeah...this is one of my fears...the previous AMG motors have been so damn good...I hope they have enough qualified engine builders to meet their production.

AMG "production" cars are made on the standard MB production line. The engines are made in the AMG factory and shipped onward.

It used to be that all cars were made at AMG.

When I went there a couple of years ago, only the E55 was being made there .. My CLK55 was made along with the others in Bremen.

AMG "specials" are made at AMG factory (but are in general modifications to mostly/completely built cars from the main factory)

They are well aware of what they are doing with respect to low production, etc.

Producing less AMG/specialty vehicles only drives the demand up for Mercedes!!

That's why I reserved mine...the engine in my CLK 55 was simply brilliant.
