Update... haha

6 months later or so... I went through these cars:

2000 360 Coupe
2004 Lambo gallardo
2006 Aston V8 Vantage

Guess what i'm getting now? LOL, another SL55! Truth is, nothing on the market has the combination of power, beauty, and luxury. Now if only they were more rare...

Why not SL65?

I would do the 65 instead. You can get one really cheap now. My SL55 is sold already, although it is still sitting in my garage.

Ford GT prices are creeping back up. I highly recommend a GT, unless it is for a DD. One thing is for sure, you would never get tired of it.

What about an M6 Cab?

My vote goes for the 360.. A Ferrari with exhaust, or even with stock exhaust, sounds amazing!

Quote: BTW.. any pics of the GT? I love that car, in black w/ a white stripe :-)

There is a car in that color combination at the local Ford dealer here. Looks pretty hot but not very comfortable.

It's not that uncomfortable, but it's not that comfy either.

My 996TT with sport seats was much more comfy, but overall, the GT feels great. I actually plan on having Sparco fit new seats in mine eventually. It's just hard to get rid of the stock carbon fiber seats.

You really should've given a chance to 997 TT Tip.
Unbeatable as daily driver, more satisfying then even the SL65.

Spend a little more and get a Lambo Gallardo, old Ferraris are extremely unreliable and costly to maintain. You can probably get one for around 130,000$, or if you can afford it, get a Ferrari F430. As far as a Ford GT, it will like a cheap POS after owning a Mercedes... some GT owners actually reported doors falling off their brand new cars, so I would stay far away from the Ford.

Quote: I have to laugh when I hear "Such and such car is underpowered" . There are dozens of people searching for more power from cars that they already can't handle. If you think a car is underpowered...............go take a driving school and then drive the same car and all of a sudden it will be alot quicker......because the weak link in most performance cars these days is what sits behind the wheel. To the guy that thinks the SL is just for going straight......Bondurant or Barber is a great place to start.
Thats right, the best mod you can do is to adjust the nut behind the wheel.

On the jackass show cannonball race, one of the guys says to a Ferrari driver, "what were you not rich enough to buy the Lambo." LOL

That guy was obviously an idiot because Ferrari F430 is much more expansive than a Lambo Gallardo. Even on a used market F430 sells for over MSRP....

Totally false. I have not heard of one door falling off. What you heard is the door trim. It is held on by double sided tape, so it can fall off. The GT is a fantastic car, and put together very well. It's easier to believe the bad stuff. I thought very much like you before I got mine. I have to say, it puts many higher priced cars to shame. Here's a pic of mine.

Totally false. the GT is just plain ugly.. if the americans don't have good designers, just launch more SUVs and pickup trucks... what's with the blue strip anyway.. such an ugly car

Some people might say that insulting something you dont like is a common sign of insecurity. Id rather say to each his own.

White and Blue were the American racing colors. You are totally entitled to your opinion. I do think it is a bi-polar design. You either love it or hate it. I personally love it. Do I think it is the best looking car in the world, no. The F40 and F50 take that crown with me.

Your GT looks phat.

What size wheels in the rear? They look massive.

I suggest anyone read this article by "Car and Driver" before buying a Ford GT:

The GT has absolutely had it's share of problems. Most of them have been worked out. That column was written 2 years ago, when it was introduced. The car was designed and built in an 18 month period. They did a very good job. All cars have problems, so pointing out the early problems that have been dealt with is not the best way to research the car. Try going to fordgtforum and asking there. You will find that MANY owners have 2 or more GT's because they love them so much.

Like I said before, it's not my favorite car, but I really do love mine. I have had ZERO problems with mine. Joe (piko on this board) has 1500 HP on his, which shows how bulletproof it is.

The car is not practical at all since you have to have 2 parking spaces, or else you will not be getting back in or even out of the car is someone is next to you. There is no luggage space, and rear visibility sucks. Even with all these problems, the car is spectacular. Most people that judge this car have never even sat in one, much less driven one. I never base anything on what others say. I also have to experience it and then come up with my own conclusion.

I didn't mean to hijack the post. Just wanted to shed a little light on the car.

Murtaza,
I have 20" fronts and 22" rears.

I would choose the SL 55 over any of those cars as a DD. The 65 is nice too, but the price difference isn't worth it to me. I love the SL, but I'm trying to get my dad to switch from his Gallardo to an SLR. Now that's a beauty

Murtaza's mom to his dad.... I told him not to put his finger in the light socket. Murtaza's dad, you know he has to experience it himself first.
