Used SL55's
My E55 has been great, but I am thinking of a change...
As for the SL55s, it looks like there are starting to be a lot of these on the market. Quick searches on the topic have not shed any light on the number of units/year that have come to the US in the past 4 or 5 years (anybody know this?), but scarcity does not seem to be an issue.
My quick review of a bunch of threads on the forum suggests lots of discussion on price, and some comments on quality and common issues, none of which seem insurmountable. Does anybody have any words of wisdom or "watch out for" advice for somebody who is shopping?
The ultimate question is:
Is a young SL55 a good value for somebody who wants a beautiful car whose stock performance is truly beastly and in fact similar in nature to "supercar" characteristics of the not too distant past?
Costs for maintaining the MB are often commensurate to the original sale price. I am currently predicting that $1/mile will not uncommon, especially as these vehicles leave their warranty periods. Can anybody dispute this?
All comments and/or references to other threads welcome….
Cheers,
cb
