05 SL55 - how do I derestrict my car without losing the warranty? I will be taking the car to Germany for a trip around Europe, has anyone been to AMG or had any work done there? Or can one of you guys recommend someone in NY/NJ who can do the job?

You can't, or at least without creating warranty issues.

Keep in mind that cars sold for the German market have the same limiter. It is raised (but not eliminated) on cars with the Performance Package (030), again, regardless of country. 030 cannot be retrofit.

Europeans can have the limit raised to the 030 setting (186 mph vs. 155) by AMG, but have to take a driving course. Affalterbach will not normally do this for a US car, but if you have a VERY good relationship with your dealer, you can see if they will plead your case.

The most practical solution is a tuner and keeping your fingers closed that the dealer doesn't catch it. Some dealers are getting very aggressive; a few are mod-friendly.
