A few weeks ago as I was driving I came to a stop with three other cars around me.
I hard a horn HONK, and then another. I looked around not knowing who did
the HONKING, and all eyes were on me.
I checked the dash lights, checked the tire pressure and all was well. As I continued driving, I heard HONKING again. Looking around me I saw a few
confused drivers. I was about ready to pull over when I realized i was doing
the HONKING.
All the control buttons on the steering wheel toke on dual functions. With light
pressure they worked as intended, pushing slightly harder would turn
on the horn. I first thought this might have been a safety feature I had over looked,
until the horn became temporarily stuck.
A trip to the dealer fixed the problem by installing a new air bag and reseting the
sensitivity level.

I have approx. 15,000 miles on the car. I have been using it as my daily driver
since new. From previous experiences with two other SL's that I owned
and pampered, daily use seems good for the car. In both previous SL's I tried to
cut back on the miles by driving on weekends or special occasions. In both
cars I had a lot of little problems beyond just dead batteries.
This car has had very few problems and is a joy to drive. I actually miss the
car if I do not drive it for a while.
The may seem like a bad comparison, but the sound of the car is very close to
my memories of a 1963 Corvette that I owned.
Yes, the MB dealer did the work under warranty.
