Anyone at Spa over the weekend - WOW the SL55 noise
Went to the F1 GP at Spa at the weekend. First time I have seen an SL55 being driven in the flesh.
A very decent driver in the pace car gave a good demo. The car sounds absolutely fabulous. I would go with the 4 Ducati's description given elsewhere.
When it lead out the Porche Cup race you could not here the racing Porches over the sound of the SL.
Does anyone know if the F1 Pace Car is the standard sound?
Told my car will be ready for collection in early October - a feel sleep deparvation coming on.

I read a post long time ago about a member who saw the F1 SL55 Pace car in a dealer in Stuttgart. He mentioned this about the sound:
Quoted By Maff:
........... The car had the same 500bhp engine as normal SL55's however the exhaust was straight through with no cats or resonators and was very loud - not 'public' road legal thus why the car was not registered.

Shame - It sounded great.
They had one on the stand and it mentioned 500PS (German for HP but I understand 1BHP is not exactly 1PS). I think this has been covered more than once already but a recent UK magazine test (Autocar) last week stated 500BHP. I thought it was 476BHP.
Article was verey positive and said it was the revelation of the 22 car test, albeit it was rated 6th in the Drivers Car of the Year test (Mucialogo spelling? 1st) . It convincingly beat the 575M on the track from a 'drivers car' point of view.
