Yeah...and you're breaking my heart. I 've always enjoy'd your signature pic.
Is a great price for the package though. I thoroughly agree with the advice re: being patient and "letting the deal come to you" a bit.
Enjoy the chase and the spoils.

Pano roof, vent seats? Seems like a smokin' deal.

I received your email but it relates to a "Where did you get the money" thread on the E forum. Try ja1031@aol.com

ok, i've found an 04 with all the options i want, but one of the last color combos. of course there's catch; carfax revealed that it was in a front collision w/ "moderate damage". actually it's not a show stopper to me since i do in fact plan on keeping the car, what i'm most concerned about is where it was repaired at. my question is: if it was repaired and warrantied by mb, what is a fair offer? i'm thinking $65-70k, but i don't want to come across like an *** when i talk to the guy tomorrow.

front collision
i would pass and keeping looking.
if this were a sub $20k car, no big deal.
for the kind of money you're talking about, you might always have a regret if it doesn't drive right, or has latent defects. as for body shop warranties, i'm not sure what time means. they can warranty that it'll meet new car specs, but it may never drive the same again.
my $.02.

depending on the extent of the damage, regardless of whether it was fixed by an MB dealer or not, I personally wouldn't even think about buying it, UNLESS it was an amazing steal (which is 1 in a million chance)

Your thinking 70k and the guy above has an 05 orginal owner car he will sell you for 80k? That is a no brainer. 10k for a perfect 05 over a hit 04 is worth every penny to most.

El Paso on the front end damage
I would pass on a 04 with damage.
At this price level any damage is is not something you
want on a carfax record. Damaged goods command a
much lower price. Knock off 10-20K.
Will be a real pain when you go to trade or sell.
The deal sounded good for the 2005 @ $ 80K.
Low miles single owner. Color was good.
Thats what I have Silver/charcoal.
Keep shopping. Keep test driving.

Just looked them up and they are going for 60-70k at auction (manhiem)
Find a broker that you can pay $1,000-$1,500 service fee to and have him buy you one at auction.
My friend just got an 02 CLK convt. with 23k miles at auction for 22k

I think if you take anything from this thread...the fact that no chimed in saying "wow I would buy that car at that price" should make it a no brainer to buy a damaged car at this price mark. Most people who buy a car at this price mark don't want a damaged car. This will make it hard for you to get rid of the car when you want to as there will be very few buyer.
I would not buy a damaged or repaired SL55.

It would be acceptable if you are talking about a $ 20K car new and buying for $ 10K used. But this is like doing a 5X deal. Think about it that way.
Its like buying 5 cars at once. Dont make this mistake and buy anything
that is not perfect. Let the Pano go. No big deal. Park is nice. But I live without mine OK. I have it on my CL so I know. Just get the keyless
no matter what. Keep shopping. Patience grasshopper.

05 SL 55 AMG, 01 Turbusa/8.43 @ 183..1/4 mi.
I shopped for almost 6 months.
Got my 05 SL55 22K Miles single owner $ 86K.
That was back in June
The dealer originally had it on the lot for $ 105K. Lowered to $ 93K
But it sat for too long and they finally caved and took my offer.
It was at an Audi dealer of all places to find a SL55.

An 05 for 86K is very good, IMO

I'm willing to sell my 2005 SL 55 for $80K. 13,000 miles, original owner, clear title and as unblemished as you'll find anywhere. Email me at ja1031@aol.com if you want pictures. Why would anyone think that this is not a screaming deal?
