Sorry but any input on the ducati monster s4rs?? Thinking of getting a bike and I like this bike and the new ducati 1098s coming out as well. Dirt bike riding only so both will be first bikes but I dont want to upgrade down the rode so I would rather get the bike I want and learn on it. Going to take a class as well.

fast cars and faster motorcycles ..
BiTurboAmg,

i really tried hard to spend 30K on the 999R that i was invited to track day at Barber motorsports but i couldn't. .. the Ducs are sexy no doubt about it.. and my family is Italian.. but i always ride my track bikes on the street and Ducs run hot in traffic, etc. etc..
.
therefore i am on my third suzuki 1000 track bike. they are faster and more dependable than the Ducs and only cost 10K. if you put 2K into the suspension of a suzuki, it would be a killer bike.. because i ride my track bike on the street (actually ride to and from the track) i like the 1000. but really the best track bikes are the 600 or 750 suzuki... the suzuki sv 650 is also a killer bike..

i assume that you are going to take the motorcycle safety school, which i highly recommend.. additionally, i don't know where you live, but track days are much safer than riding the street.. don't get me wrong, bad stuff happens at the track but less so than on the street..
.
you don't have cars turning and also, pulling out in front of you at the track..
.
Ducs are great, i just like the "made in Japan" product better..

go for it..
.
......

BlackBenzz,

my hayabusa is slow.... it's stock.. but still fun...

.
JR

I love to go fast, but a 500hp bike? Good luck and be safe...........and your co-workers are idiots!

The key is in learning how to modulate the throttle until yer goin' 185 or so..............and then, and then only, do ya pin-the-throttle........top end is around 231 for mine...........there are those that are faster/different gearing...........rpm/limiter.........

I have ridden to around 200 in 5th and backed out and shifted to 6th to slow-the-****-down...........

Once you have ridden stuff like that......when 80-180 occurs in just a few...........and I do mean FEW ticks of the clock...........that is when you realize that a normally-aspirated engine is only 1/2 of what we need....
Turbo/SuperCharger is the other half, IMO.

i only drive a C class but i want a SL55.... only fools buy vipers. i hate them... i overheard a guy at the gas station one time talkin to a guy with a viper and the guy who owned it said that his new viper leaks air. The quality is so poor. You did not go wrong. You have all the luxury and speed. SL55 is pimmmmp

These cars should not even be compared, as they serve different purposes.
The SL is very reliable, and will serve you well for several years. It is a better daily driver than a Viper.

You can buy a new Viper for $70K now. The Z06's go for over sticker, so the viper is lower priced.

The viper does not have any driver nannies, which for me and many others is great. Many of the negative comments against the Viper dont make sense. Sure, the SL has more creature comforts, and it should since it's target demographic wants those things. The demographic for Vipers don't want those things weighing down their cars. Power seats do not belong in race cars, plain and simple.

I was considering getting rid of my SL55 for a viper, but I am going a different route, possibly another P car or a 360CS.

What mods does your SL55 have, if any??

(Just curious)

The car is lowered, has 20" HRE's, and Silver Carbon Interior.
No engine mods. I have the Kleeman Boost kit on my 03 SL55, but got rid of that car.

Actually, Adam lowered it for me.

Nice. On my 03, they did a pulley, ecu, airbox, and exhaust, which got me about 570HP.
It did drive pretty nice.
Torque is your friend!

Yep,
Car is delivered........"Buildable" In My Opinion...........a Great car that can be modified easily to "kick-butt" on the street/hi-way...........

I want 500 at the wheels.......or more........

Pulley done tonight...by my pal Robert at Mastertech.....a Volvo shop but he cut his teeth on Mercedes.......he did a great job........

It is a bear to shake that stock pulley off and line up the new one with that deep keyway...........ya gotta have "the touch", IMO.

ECU comes out tomorrow............for upgrade, and already I am thinkin' I need an upgraded IC Pump to handle the additional heat from the additional horsepower/torque combined with the additional pressure of my right foot on the accelerator........

Dave
