Resale restriction
When I collected my '55, I was compelled to sign a document restricting the resale of my car to the USA indefinitely and in Canada for 1 year. Does anyone else have the similar experiences or views about this? My solicitors are chomping at the bit to go at this but as I mentioned before, I have a pretty good relationship with this dealership but as far as MB Canada/USA/Germany goes.......:p

I heard the same thing happened to ferrari customers with their brand new 360modena/spiders. I guess ferrari didnt want consumers just buying the car to make a quick buck. Same thing should go for the SL55.

But how does one explain the numerous "limited" automobiles that appear for sale on Ebay, Dupont Registry etc? I had an E46 M3 for a whole 900kms before I offloaded it and got myself a '32. When I mentioned it to my bimmer sales person who enquired about the car, all that he said was that ideally I should have offered the car back to BMW first. However, its not likely that the dealership would offer me the "market value" at that point in time. And that is exactly my point, if I am offered a premium in a bona fide transaction then what laws am I breaching? Nevertheless, for all my ranting, life goes on and even in 1 years time, my '55 should I let it go will still hold its value better than most.

Ironically the restriction is only for non-titled Mercedes. If the car is sold back to the dealer/traded in, and still within the first year, the next purchaser is not obligated to sign the agreement. It's also not transferable when you sell it to another person. You just can't 'knowingly' sell it to someone you know who is going to export it, or export it yourself for sale.
