i just got an sl55 an im having a problem..

hey i just picked up my 04 sl55 the other day and i just bought a 2nd key for it today from the dealer, well when i got home the 2nd key worked but it just wouldnt synch up with the push button starter.....anyways i take the key inside bc i knew it worked and get my other key and go to dinner to meet my gf on the way it starts saying 1 malfunction, the picture of the battery comes up and it says something about the electronic something or other is offline and it starts making this noise....well i just had a new battery put in the other day bc although the car is an '04 it only has 2600 miles and was never used, so with the new battery in why would the battery be showing, then 5 minutes later, it says no malfunction and all is good.....

now the quesiton is, is it my fault i did something weird with the key, bc a few yrs ago i had a '00 SL600 and i did something wrong programming the keys and it messed up the car, i mean its still under warranty and im taking it in the morning, but do any of you have an idea whats wrong and why this happened. Thanks also how do i synch the second key up with the push button starter or i guess ill ask the dealer tom

If you haven't been using the car, the battery could have been low and when you drove it, it received a charge.

It alos could be the second battery. Your car has 2. If you only replaced one, the other could be on its way out.

The reason it's not starting with the other key is because keyless go keys have to be ordered for Track 1.

you should've told him you don't have a garage and live in a rough neighborhood.

the key "needs to learn the car"??? your adviser is an idiot.

I have to agree. So, to steal an MB, one just has to leave a key in it for a while and then it begins working. Sounds implausible to me. I hope that wasn't one of the DFW dealerships.
