SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: What to get....
#1
What to get....
I want to get another car this summer / late summer. Just looking for others inputs and why.
Here are my thoughts:
CLS63 (new) - Sexy car, love it. Miss my CLS55. And it's 4 doors.
SL65 (used) - Bad boy, fast..... fast.. fast. faster. really fast.
V8 Vantage (new) - Rare in Orlando. If you say it ain't so, I haven't seen any.
BTW, I posted in this section because it's more active than the CLS forum.

Sl65
I'd get the 65.
A) It's the Best Looking
B) It's the Fastest!
C) You can get a slightly used one and save Big $$$, Plus it won't lose that much more value because it will already taken the biggest hit.
GO FOR IT!

None of the above.
Either a used DB9,Vanquish,Gallardo,new M6 or,
try Quattroporte or XKR.
A Z06 could be worth considering too,you could also modify it fairly cheap and make it invincible.
Forgot!
How about 997 TT tip?

Had a Quattraporte, think it's a piece of ****
Vanquish is pure Ford junk
Not into Jags or Bimmers
DB9 I considered, just think the V8 Vantage is a better car overall. Don't take this as a insult, I just don't like any of your picks.

The V8 Vantage is avery nice car. It ain't no Porsche Carrera S, but looks better and handles quite well. If you want a roadster and can afford an SL65 get one of those, the Vantage roadster closed looks like a camping tent (like most roadsters, including a Gallardo ragtop). Mind you, power corrupts, so there is no way back after a 65.
I find the DB9 very pretty, but the Vantage rides more relaxed, so I agree with you on that part.

Agree, I like the look and ride of the Vantage. Not in your poll picks, but what about a CL63 or the Mas. GT Coupe out later this year. The new transmission seems to be a big improvement (maybe the reason for your dislike of the Quattraporte?).

Not many interesting driving roads in/near urban FL....so steering, brakes, chassis balance, etc are prob fairly irrelevant issues....
By now, the barista at Starbucks prob also just got a 3yo used SL65 that she picked up at auction for a "great price".....and she's using some of the savings vs those clueless, depreciation-eating new 65 buyers for mean tints, mods, aftermkt XXL cupholders, etc.....
May want to get a new 599 at mkt....prob will do well for street races/parked in front of clubs.....and, unless one is in places like SiliconValley/Greenwich, it's unlikely one will see another in same color at office pkg garage/favorite restaurant....surprisingly, it's still an uncommon car in BevHills....

A new 599 at market pricing is $200k over MSRP -- soooo not worth that mark up
I love the looks and sounds of the V8 Vantage and I too am debating between that and an SL65, and it is a very hard decision!

The AM is a great car...every drive is very special. From the way the doors open, to the detailing of the interior, to the sound of the engine, to the handling......and did I say rare.
Great car!

If you want a 599......wait 5 years and you can have one for $150K. I am already being offered cars for MSRP + 125-135. Just 5 months ago I sold 2 for MSRP + 200/225.

See the recent photos of the upcoming droptop SLR? Whammy!
If you've got the ultimo sport car (the Gallardo), I'd think the SL65 would be up your alley, as it's more about grand touring, and unlike the others it allows for top-down driving too.

I'd pick the SL. The SL is just a timeless car - no matter what engine you pick. SL means history and tradition (every time I hear 'SL', I have to think of the silver 'mother of SLs' with the wing-doors)...

70 % of the 65s on the streets are not performing properly due to the IC pump flaw. So be careful of any used ones, However its always fixable.... BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET THE VANTAGE. Drove one at galpin and I actually got mad cause of how slow it is. It would definetly get smoked by a subaru sti, (seriously). It does look nice though but thats about it. I say new sl55 with the 65 package upgrade or gt3

Because it's your dream and not mine..
Thanks for everyone's opinions, keep them coming...
As far as a V8 Vantage.. I drove one and it reminded me of my SLK55, but slower. Although it is a GREAT looking car. But i DO miss my CLS55.. that's why a 63 would be nice........

I voted for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage for its exclusivity, sound, heritage.
Who care's about speed you already have a fast fast car, the Aston Martin is fun to drive and easy to park
