Getting off the line in your 65.

I am just very curious on the various techniques of launching a stock SL65 with the best results on the street. I have had this car over three months and I still don't have a formula. Most of the reason is I don't often have a chance to do various tests but there are a few things I do know.

1) ESP on does help you out of the hole but once you get going it really retards performance until you are well beyond the range of any wheel spin.

2) ESP off requires a very delicate and methodical launch technique which I have yet to master.

3) All though I have not timed any of my runs, what feels to be the quickest for me is manually putting the car in 2nd with ESP off. This way after I baby it out of the hole I am still in a lower gear when I hammer it as it tends to shift into higher gears when starting off easy.

One thing is do miss about my K1 CLS55 was the "floor and hold on" feature it had.

Any help is much appreciated.

P.S. no updates on the F430 yet.

Thanks for the tip I will try the 2nd gear idea.

I've been told that 335 semi slicks would be a good way to go, but only over the summer months.
