Dealership deal

I was at MB Laguna Nigel today. They've got a brillant silver SL55 with ash interior on the Used Car showroom. They bought it used a week or so ago from the Beverly Hills dealer for $160k. The best offer they've had so far is $159k. One of the new car salespeople said that so far a lot of lookers but no action.

that sounds absurd. no dealer would buy at that price. these salesmen say anything.

I looked at the salesman and I said "Good Luck" and he shrugged his shoulders and said, "it'll go". I asked him how much he thought it would end up going for and he said, "$180k - $190k". I reminded him that a month ago he was telling me that there were guys running around Southern California dealerships waving rolls of cash offering $50k over MSL to be first on the wait list(s). What about them I asked (another shrug)?

Another thought???

I'm curious as to why the MB dealers (for the most part) are selling all the SL500's on their wait lists at sticker and yet they seem determined to sell a few SL55's a year for inflated prices? If their argument is "fair market value on the wait list contracts for all SL's", then why not $5k to $10K over sticker on the SL500's too?

You can buy on e-bay as well as other web sites SL55 for at the most 35 -43 over sticker right now. These cars are loaded and have no miles to speak of, and have the luxury tax paid allready. As time goes by the prices should decrease in value by 3-5 per month, or until mercedes directs more production to the USA were demand is strong and diverts away from Germany and Europe were demand is much weaker then u will see prices drop quickly See web sites below for current pricing
