SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Pics! 2005 SL55 AMG
About 2 yrs ago, I sold my 2003 E55 and I went through a few cars, but I always missed the feeling I had with the 55k motor. I had the Evosport power package 2, and it was a beast.
For the past two years, due to my work, I was mostly in China and Taiwan. Recently, I decided to make the move back to the USA for 2 new business ventures. Therefore I will be permanently back in the USA! I'm super happy because now I dont have to drink til I die at every business dinner! That's what happens in Taipei and China, pretty much every night. But I will miss all the partying....Haha...if anyone wants to know....lots of fun stories there
So about 2 months ago I ordered a white CLS63 AMG with 030 performance package. I posted a thread a few weeks ago on the CLS and E forums asking opinions about the 55 verse 63. I went to test drive the E63, and then I stumbled across some second hand SL55 AMGs and SL65s. I fell in love....
In the end, I canceled my CLS63 AMG, and I found a great deal on a 2005 SL55 AMG. The SL65 was a little more than a brand new CLS63 and I wanted to save some money for mods too. It has 20k miles. It's obsidian black with berry red interior. Fully loaded, including panorama roof.
Not to knock on the 63 motor, but I know the potential of the 55k, as well as the v12 twin turbos, and I knew I would have so much fun modding the SL. Even though the facelifted SL will be out in a year, I will hold onto this car for at least 2 years and see if AMG will twin turbo the 63 motor!
I'm in Tpe right now wrapping some things up. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for some Kleemann parts to arrive at my friends shop. I ordered Kleemann ECU/Pulley, Headers, larger IC pump and water pump, and LSD. I also ordered Iforged Daytonas, 20x9 fr 20x11 rr, as well as the SL65 bumper, rear trunk lip spoiler and lowering links.
Anyway, sorry for the long write up, I'm just super excited!
Enjoy the stock pics....
I really can't wait until it's all modded! I'm trying to figure out which tires to get now....Any suggestions???
It seems that 255/30-20 front and 305/25-20 rear is what most ppl use for 20x9 and 20x11. I was wondering if it's possible or if there are any available tires in 305/30-20? Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.
