AMG 19" split rims that are not split rims problems
Continuing on from my last post but a more represtentaive title. So my low millage 2004 sl55 has 19" AMG split rims as standard. I've now found out that a loud clicking noise coming from the rear is from the wheel where the plit join is.
The dealer said no option but to replace the wheel (and the other soon apparantly @ nearly 2k euro's each)
I was amazed that when they changed the wheel they didn't need to split the wheel to put the tire on. So it seems the split is for cosmetics..!
Back to the issue at hand though, it seems this problem is not isolated ...who else has had it? My dealer said Merc and AMG did not acknowledge it as a known problem..
I don't mind replacing all the other parts to date on this car (well I do really) but to have to replace wheels on a low millage cared for car is choking me..any suggestions on how to complain I suppose to AMG?
Thanks

No longer car shopping...
Sounds like the air pressure sensor fell of IN the tire. Does it "go away" with speed? Take them off, examine the inside and remount. Look, I saved you some big $'s ...on your car insurance...LOL!!
