Got Some Problems, What Do You Guys Think?
I recently bought a sl55 03 46k miles, CPO. After i bought it and really pushed it on some open road, the super charger would not even kick in or die out from 60-100 mph. It seemed if the N/A motor was only running. I took it back to the dealership the next day and they said my coolant on the supercharger popped and that it was restricting the power because of the high levels of heat. Does this sound right? The engine did no smell of any coolant and their was no trace of any coolant when you open up the hood. My friend that is a mechanic told me after he drove it that it might be the clutch. At any rate i bought this car on tuesday, took it back on wednesday, and they say i should get it by friday. I also had some minor cosmetic things replaced, but thats about it. What do you guys think of this problem and since the car is already mine, i have a 7-day trade back policy for equal or greater value for any other car on their lot. WHat should i do, do i have the upper hand right now if i decide to keep the car? Can i get some things for free added to my car from the dealer??? I dont know. Just wondering what you guys thought..

Well, the ECU will retard timing and slow the car if the supercharger runs too hot.
That can happen if the intercooler pump fails or you make repeated high speed runs, especially on hot days.
If you search the forum you'll see a handful of references to intercooler pump failure. The pump failed on my 2003 SL55 and was replaced under the CPO warranty.
I don't understand what they mean when they say the "coolant on the supercharger popped."
If it were me, I'd ask for more details on what part failed and what they did to replace it, then drive it over the weekend to make sure it's running correctly.
