Question on new SL AMG Black Series/SLC

This black series or supercar version of the SL will have the newly facelifted front, correct? There is a picture of an SL600 with a new front and new side gills, but it looks like the tail lights are the same. So this SL Black Series should have the new body style, plus Black Series (or signature series, whatever) treatment as well, right? Is the "SLC" going to be different than this car or is this the same as the SLC?

I'm only asking this because I told my father about this car and he really wants to put a deposit down on it...just we're not sure how to approach the dealer. Are we asking for the new body style SL, new SL AMG, SLC, SL Black Series? I think I'm just going to print out a picture of this car and show it to the dealer and say "this one" because I could see lots of confusement.

You name it i've had it or got it...
i think the problem will be...which it all depends on the dealer...is that most dealers won't take a deposit unless they have official info on the car. the only time i have found this to be different is on f-cars and other exotics...but only to a certain extent.

I'm not so sure...

that it will be the facelifted model. Much like the CLK63 B was based on the current edition of the CLK, I would assume the same for the SL. Sort of a grand send off for the R230 as it was for the 209 CLK (with a revised body coming too). I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. Today.

BTW, if you want to get an order in...

PM me, I work with a small market dealer who might be able to help.

Alright, thanks guys. Guess I'll just sit back and wait a little bit longer.

But about whether or not its facelifted...the grill looks like the facelifted grill, as well as the headlights and the side gills. If it ain't the facelifted model, then as badass as this car will be, I think it would be a bad decision to get it. Also, lets hope it comes with the rumored dual clutch sequential manual transmission...

Not necessarily true. I put a deposit down for my SL55 1.5yrs before it was even talked about in the US. I did the same for the 65.

I currently have a deposit on the forthcoming 'gullwing'. It all depends on the relationship that you have with the dealer.

I agree. They will take the deposit and you be closer to the top of the list for an allocation when it is introduced.

Hearing it's SL facelift (MY07 facelift failed to sell as too cosmetically similar) and upgrade of interior to closer to CL/S-level new tech toys/amenities....

Allegedly will be SL Blk Series...not clear if it's a 63 motor, a more developed 63...or new V12...

Sounds like ?6mths away....

Suspect AMG is planning launch timing vs timing of coming Ferrari Dino (which may have a flip top)...and Porsche's launch of revised 997TT in CY08....

Any well-run, high-vol NYC region MB dealer w/which one has good relationship will place one on any list/start a list.....after all, it only entails a trivial refundable deposit (if that for a known/repeat cust).....

This special edition SL will be based on the facelift that is coming soon.

Besides this SL will probably be a SIGNATURE SERIES AMG and not a Black Series. Much like the CLK DTM AMG.

SL black series = current chassis
SLC = based upon future SL chassis

I'd guess by the pic that its the black series. I've seen some other pics that is much different looking so I'd guess that is the SLC.
