Roll bar specification help

I am wondering if anyone can give me some information. We are handling a case in which our client, who was driving a 2003 SL55 AMG was rear-ended. The impact was great enough that it caused the anti-roll bar to engage. Does anyone have any knowledge or could cite some literature pertaining to the amount of force that would be required in order to do that.

are u putting ppl in the back ? i hope not ...

if someone is sitting in the back and that bar pops up ..... i feel sorry for whoever is sittin back there . Mine went off once just because i turned hard and the road was very bumpy . I guess it thought i was gonna role over, it felt like the 2 wheels on the left side lifted abit .

But like i said , if someone was sitting in the back ,which is illegal and not safe... would have their head cut off . no joke

I've had mine go off four times, all because the car thought it was in my best interest to have a little extra security to protect me from myself. It went off twice when the car thought it should be more closely connected to the ground over some whoops, twice sliding in corners (yes, it will slide).

I don't know whether there are bumper sensors (don't have my books in front of me), but there do appear to be lateral and vertical acceleration sensors or equivalent. That may have been all that was needed to trip the bar.

I appreciate your response, I think at this time we have to simply believe that the impact between the vehicles was sufficient enough to cause the roll bar to release.
