Wrong SL55 Front Bumper?
Can anyone ID this front bumper on a 2003 SL55? Is it off a 05/06 SL65?

MBWorld Fanatic!
It is an SL65 bumper. But it was also included in the 030 package. In the latter case the side opening would house an extra oil-cooler.
But since the car has 18" wheels, the 030 package is not an option on this car. 030 also includes bigger brakes on which the 18" don't fit.

I am not getting any response from the seller to my inquiries about "what's the story" on the 03 SL55 with the SL65 front bumper. His site takes me to a free CarFax report that shows the car was offered for sale in 3/2004 as a one year old CPO ...... I've asked if that would put the car into "1st" year of the CPO warranty (5th year post new delivery). However, after looking closely at the CarFax report it looks like the car was bought by a dealer when it was being offered as a CPO in 2004 and became a fleet vehicle until it was later auctioned off in 2006 in the Pacific Region. I wonder if any experts here can make better sense of this car's history than I ..... Particularly if the car is still under a CPO warranty? Also, it might be interesting if there is any way to find auction info as to the car's selling price and condition from that auction.
I suppose I can take the VIN to my nearest MBZ dealer and ask them to check it for warranty status.
If the asking price softened to under $50K and there was still some CPO warranty left (until 3/2008) and it passes a pre-buy inspection by a local MBZ dealership or other MBZ expert, it might be an interesting offering.
Buy a used set of 19" SL65 wheels, debadge the car except for the AMG rear deck emblem and hope nobody notices the brake calipers and exhaust tone.
Then let my daughter drive and wreck it just like Lindsay

I also found an option decoder for the VIN and noticed some possible inconsistencies from the what the decoder says came with the car vs. the photos displayed, for instance the option 889 shift lever GO button does not show up clearly on the only photo of the interior (but it might be there, not really sure):
