Problem: Crazy Idling (Self-revving to 2.5k rpm??), Help!

Yea, so this morning I turned on my car and noticed it was acting up.. ESP Malfunction flashed on the computer, check engine light came on. Turned it off and back on. ESP Malf gone, but check engine light still on.. Let it warm up a bit from the cold start and proceeded driving to see what was up. Noticed the throttle response was jumpy/awkward and at a point, I floored it and it accelerated like .. slow.. Whats up with that? All day, everytime I put it in park, it self revved to ~2k and went up and down. Im a bit worried, not sure if its just a bug or something with the computer?

I think the check engine light means to check the engine and not drive the car around? You could do more damage, get to a dealer asap

Yea.. I will definitely swing by tomorrow. I just wasnt sure if it was something that was a common problem or something people have had previous experience with or simply a 1 day fluke. Thanks!

FWIW, it turned out to be a 1 day fluke. It did it again Friday.. I think it has something to do with leaving the car on too long without driving, as I turn it on and leave it on for 1-5 min before driving it to let the engine warm up after a cold start in the mornings (and if I drive it early, I usually wait for the temp to exceed 80* before entering boost)..

Did the same thing for my XJR, its just a good precaution for supercharged engines, IMO..

Good luck......... My 2008 SL55 has been in the shop since March 24th. Mine did the same thing as yours did. ESP light came on and loss of power. Anyway the part is suppose to come in from Germany. You tell me that they don't have any parts here in the US? The problem has something to do with the throttle body. I love the AMG's but the last 2004 CL55 I had I had to lemon it and MZB bought it back. They were very nice about it, but I guess they should be when you spend that kind of money on a car and it sits in their shop for over 30 days............
