funny things are happening in the luxury car resale market nowadays. the sl's have huge variances at auctions because of the high condition standard they are held against. as such- auction numbers can be very very misleading.

06 sl65 are at 93k +/- 5k...
variance is great on those cars due to condition and specific auction circumstances (ie a dealer will bid higher if they have a customer lined-up) and vice-versa - a dealer will bid low on car if it has problems that most dealers will shy away from fixing. also, keep in mind that prepping those cars does cost money- money that are not figured in those numbers.
so again- those numbers are very very... misleading. every sale is unique as there are not enough stat numbers around to "anchor" the price within a thousand dollars.
mileage on those cars also plays a big role in the pricing.
to sum it up - rare cars are hard to price out. not too many sold and too many hidden variables play important roles in determining fair wholesale and retail prices. every sale is unique.
