Post Audi Will Supposedly Offer RS-6's Twin-Turbo V-10 on Future R8 Lightweight Edition

A massaged twin-turbo RS-6 derived V-10 in a lightened R8 would be sick fast (and a convertible will be offered for sure), not to mention the aftermarket tuning potential. What do you guys think? Audi says they need this car to compete with upcoming AMG Black Series cars and future BMW M CSL models. The upcoming BMW Z9 convertible is only a few years away from being shown supposedly. It is supposed to be the competitor to the next generation SL for 2012, and since Bimmer seems to now adore Direct Injection with Twin-Turbo's, it only makes sense that a twin-turbo V-10 and twin-turbo V-12 Direct Injection with DSG trans will be offered for the Z9. For example, since they now have a 4.4 liter twin-turbo V-8 for their X6, it makes sense to go up atleast another liter or more in capacity and have a 5.4 liter or 6.0 liter twin-turbo DI V-12 engine.

Another exciting thing to watch from all this is that this means that Lambo's newly updated Gallardo LP560 with 560 HP from a N/A 5.2 liter V-10 is not enough, and they will have to go to atleast somewhere north of 600 HP to stay firmly at the top of the range. And the next-generation Murcielago replacement coming in 2011 or so will have to go way north of 750+ HP to stay at the top model placement. Ferrari's upcoming F460 update will have to go up in power also, but since they said they are going to go twin-turbo in their future cars then we will see many interestingly fast cars from Ferrari so as to stay decisively faster than any Audi or BMW M-Car.

this is no surprise. I believe this plan has been cancelled a while ago because they can't get the cooling system to match the V10 twin turbo to the rear. I know they burnt down a couple of R8s with this V10tt on Nurb. track. Hence, they are now building a V12 TDi instead.

see they cancelled the TDI is what I heard only to go back to the V10 but this time they used the air vents from the V12 TDI on the roof to feed and cool the turbochargers...
rumors rumors...
