So, we've gone from majority of the people on MBWorld hating on the facelifted R230, to general acceptance of the new car, to nit-picking on the "cheap and plastic looking side gill accents"?

Again, look at the current gills. It's silver as well.
These complaints are not mine; i'm merely quoting someone. I'm pointing out the fact that the pre-facelift SL has the same styling queues as the facelifted SL.

They are fins, this is a flat panel that ends at the door seam. It looks like an unpainted panel. It looks like crap.

Is it just me or is the new front ugly? Personally I don't think it flows with the cars lines anymore. I know it was a required change to raise the height ... but eww.

No, it's not just you - I really don't like the new front end (or the rear end/exhaust) *at all* - I think they have cheapened the look of the vehicle with the C class style headlights and the Crossfire style hood. I just can't get used to this one. I don't think I'll be getting a new one anytime soon...

I love the new front . Mercedes is moving to this type of headlights on all their cars. Looks more aggressive and masculine and suits the AMG image. I saw a white one on the street and it looked awesome. I have a black one coming and I am going to paint that piece black to match the car.
