Help, does anybody...........

know where in New York I can find a dealer that will write an SL55 at MSRP with a guaranteed delivery of April 2004?

We have an SL500 on order now but want to switch to an SL55 and the dealer told us you'll have to buy elsewhere at that price (MSRP).

I'm talking 1 year and 4 months....some of these dealers greed amaze me.

Thanks for any input.

You may wish to visit Manhattan Mercedes-Benz. They are owned by MBUSA, and sell all vehicles at MSRP.

You may be waiting a while as their list is probably quite large. I will have been nearly 1.6 years once I finally take delivery of mine, in late January 2003.

Greed? I would not call it greed. It is simple: supply and demand. The demand is high, and they have the supply.

2003 Ferrari Enzo - MSRP $670,000 range

If you own one in January 2003, you could sell it for as much as $1,500,000... Why? Supply and demand. The demand for the Enzo far outweighs the supply. Are you being greedy? I wouldn't think so.

MB Manhattan sells at MSRP. But unless their allocation has increased dramatically since this past September, I doubt they could get it to you in that time. As far as a guarantee is concerned, are you looking for something in writing, or just a verbal? Not sure what their reaction would be.

You may want to try out the MB dealer in Greenwich.

I found a dealer that will put it in writing, for whatever that's worth......I'll take my chances. I called MB Manhattan, I know they are a factory store (nice guy, estimated 2 year wait).

To me, taking a deposit well over a year in advance and still charging over MSRP is greed, it just is (5 months would be a different story).

I do appreciate all your feedback.

well the only thing about that example is that there are gonna be at most 399 of them, they are 650 bhp and gonna bea collectors item instantly. when you take that off the lot it doesnt depreciate like a benz everntually will. i understand your premise totally, but the enzo is a collectors dream
