Fair Price Super Low Miles SL55 2003?

Hi All...I've been looking for an 2003 2004 SL55...A 2003 has shown up locally with only 6800 miles. Dealer is asking $59K - how out of whack is this for a super low mileage car? It appears you can find 30-50K examples between 48-52K...

Thoughts?

Sounds like a really good deal. Is it loaded (Keyless-Go, Bose etc.)?

Yes, all the goodies including a Pano roof...I'm trying to get my arms around just how much more a sub 10K mile car is worth compared to a 30-50k mile car.

I drive whatever "toy" I have very little - no more than about 3000 miles per year...so...do I buy the super low mile vehicle, only add my 3k a year then have a super low mile vehicle in 5 years? Or do I buy a 40k example and STILL have a - by most standards - a low mile vehicle in 5 years?...Just trying to do some math...I'd hate to pay a 10K premium if it isn't going to mean much in 3-5 years...

And by the way, Sharkster...with the dollar vs. the Euro right now, I'd say they ALL look like good deals!

Yah... true!

Anyway... if you only go 3k miles per year... How long do you intend to keep it?

With my current SL55... (after being on several great cars) I thought: "Heck... I'll keep it FOREVER!" (well, at least until it breaks down with 300k miles on it... like in 10-20 years).
I bought my 2004 SL 55 with around 28k miles on it.

If you only add like 3k miles per year and want to sell it in two years, you may as well go for a car with 40-50k miles on it... and sell it for (pretty much) the same price you bought it for.

Cheers...

My thoughts as well...If I planned on showing the car in 20 years, it would be a different story...but I don't///

Get it that price is quiet reasonable for a low mileage car.

Well, as a point of reference 2003 SL's with 50K miles are selling in the low 40's. If you put 12K miles/year on this car, you will have 30K miles when it is 7 years old. The REAL question may well be "What will be the value of a 30K, 7 year old SL55 in 2010?" IMHO, offer them $45K and let them "work you up" to $50K. UNLESS it has the actual Mercedes extended warranty on it in which case you should offer them $52K IMHO (of course)

There is a 33k mile example just available with a 49K ASKING price...I'm going to compare the two and see if the difference is at all justifiable...

Well, if you're going to go for 30-50k miles, you might even be able to find a CPO one, and get yourself a little warranty tied in...

This one isn't a CPO, but it's got 44k miles, has a clean car fax, and it's an '04 vs. an '03. asking price is $46k...

It's comparing apples and oranges, but I just got an '06 SL600 with 19k miles that has a CPO warranty through March 2011. I paid $68k. 55s and 600s I think run in fairly similar veins price-wise. Regardless of miles, $59k seems like a lot for an '03...

Here are a CPO '03 and '04 that are all pretty reasonably priced as well:

That color doesn't get much traction. The color itself reduces the value of that car by about $3K in the open market vs. a White or Black one.

PS - Sorry, I thought that was the "powder" blue one, not silver. Silver is same value as black/White. The "baby" blue or powder blue ones are the ones that don't hold their value as well

Silver's certainly abundant, but when I was just searching I got my best deal on a black one...
