SL63 MCT question

A friend is considering purchasing an 09 SL63. Being the car nut that I am, he asked my opinion. Pretty much I've only read good things thus far. What I'm curious about is if there's any inherent advantage to having 6 clutches (MCT) vs 2 (BMW DCT, VW DSG, Porsche PDK etc.). Any insight that's not too technical (and therefore over my head ) will be appreciated.

P.s. the 6 clutch info came from: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=125146

The technical claims means little to any smart driver...lots of vaporware and claims....

Reality is speed/smoothness/reliability/robustness (re: needing new clutches frequently) of shifts in conjunction w/a high-tq motor (realize that shiftspeeds become less relevant w/high-tq motor like 63/65)....

IMO, MCT's only real comps are 65/Scud/599 gearboxes....and each car has its own issues....

Know several jaded guys who own both SL63 030 and Scud (and had 599 and 65s in past)....and use each for various purposes....great stuff from AMG....

Valid statements but for whatever it's worth I'm still curious...

Drove new SL

Well in comparison to other AMGs, the new gear box is AMAZING, I didn't get that much time in it, but it seamed smoother and faster than my friends gallardo, that I get lots of time in. Not as smooth as a DB9 (but this SLOW shifting) I was very impressed, thing to remember is AMG = lots of lux, compared to the other cars in question, so its a matter of what you want... I want to trade my E for one, it was soo much fun driving it, it sounds sooo mean, I feel in love.
