SL55 purchase need help
Hi guys. I owned and sold an 04 SL55 and an 07 E63 and really miss the SL55 and am looking for one. I am being offered an 06 SL55 with pano and 21,000 miles for $68,000 (black on black). What do you guys think? I also thought of an SL600 but they are very hard to come by. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated since I am going to see the car soon. My understanding is that the car is perfect.
One more question about the pano roof. On an SL does the perforated cover completely block out the sun or do the perfs always allow some sun in? Is there a heat issue associated with it?
Thx.

68k sounds like a pretty good price. I got my sl600 (also '06, 19k miles, CPO) for $68k and I think the 55s bring a slightly higher premium used. The one thing I would definitely recommend is having the car CPO'd, if it's coming from a dealer. If it's private, I'm not sure the best option. There was definitely some piece of mind with my car knowing that I still had 33 months/80k miles of warranty left on it. Of course, the V8 may not be as scary as the V12 in terms of potential problems/bills.
I keep my shade shut, but I don't notice a difference open or shut on the pano. Of course, with a black car, you're basically screwed no matter what.
Has anyone else played this trick on an unsuspecting passenger? My aluminum(?) "start" button hits about 4,000 degrees during the day. So, I always make a new passenger "start" the car. I'll say, "Hey, press the button to start it." When their finger gets scorched, my pre-teen sense of humor gives me a good chuckle.

I bought an '06 with the same options you are mentioning and same color combination for $79K last November so the $68K sounds right.
Regarding the pano roof, the screen does not block out the sun completely. However, I live in the desert southwest where the temps reach about 102 degF in the summertime so it's hot regardless.
