Hood Insulation Delete
So I'm looking under the hood and there is a lot of soft spongy material.

Whats it there for? I imagine the soft spongy material absorbs quite a bit of sound energy reducing supercharger whine.

It also seems like a **** poor material for letting heat out of the engine bay


I want to get rid of it, it's held on by a few plastic tabs. Just want to make sure it's not doing anything important. Here are some crappy iphone pics

Nevermind, probably there to save the hood paint from turning green from heat as some friends just told me

fire protection. If your **** starts to flame up, it drops it on top and puts it out.

Exactly. The plastic tabs melt and the pad drops down to smother a fire. Also there to keep the paint from cracking doe to engine heat.
