09 SL 63 Silver Arrow Edition

09 SL 63 Silver Arrow Edition- never knew existed. SAs are first edition cars like the SL63s. Saw it at Long Beach MB

It's gorgious with an SAE option of $24k+ which includes everything (030) but distronic. Besides limited to only 100 made, it has upgraded leather, designo silver paint and black piano wood in lieu of cf trim pieces.

Check it out at: http://www.benzblogger.com/PhotoGall...ilverArrow.pdf

Great car...but, IMO, still dynamically/aesthetically inferior to any AMG CL, but vastly superior to any F/P....

But fact that all these SA editions are still around in places like LA (admittedly gruesome parts of LA region) some 2mos post-launch reveals how much of a commercial failure is the SL63 launch....

Last I chkd, some 100+ new, unsold SL63s are sitting at dealers across US....and it's Summer....gotta love a recession and a fundamentally elderly-tech car after its second attempted "facelift"....capitalism at its best...

Glad to see you approve of the CL. Two totally different experiences.

The MCT makes this car. Hopefully the MCT finds its way into other models.

As far as the launch.....the SL will be around for several more MYs despite your observations.

Have fair amt of driving expce w/SL63 030...great overall car....

MCT is interesting >40MPH, but awfully annoying in routine urban/suburban driving...and 63 tq is not breath-taking, unlike 65, no matter gearbox....

My biggest issues in mtn twisties driving w/SL63 030 are inferior brake pedal feel (vs AMG CL) and awful, ancient-tech sport seats....and elevated safety risks (esp head-on collision/rollover) of any convert/retrac hardtop....risk/reward, right???

Commercial success is judged based upon public sales data...

It's funny, you are still one of the only people I have ever read about that would take the handling of the CL over an SL. In fact, I don't know of anyone under 40 that owns a CL so I guess I need to change up my friends or something. They all own SL's or S's.

I really hate the driving dynamics of the CL63 and 65. It is one of the only AMG models that I have driven that feels unsettled to me. I think it would make a fantastic auotobahn cruiser but not for any kind of spirited mountain road. Feels to me like you are driving on a cloud.

Just my .02. I drove a CL65 for 3 weeks so I had more than just a weekend with one. Love the torque and all the gadgets but I need a better ride or I need to get a bad back so I don't want to feel all the road feedback.
