Sl55 New Wheels. Need some opinions
Looking into a new set of rims for my 2008 sl55. Tried these on the other day. Can't decide whether they look cool or just like they are covered in brake dust? They are a matt black finish in 20 inches with a 305 tire. Like the black look, but what do you guys think of the chrome lip instead. Any help would be greatly appeciated. Thanks!

I am not a big black wheel fan. I think they just look dirty. But it's not my opinion that matters. If you like the way they look, then get them.

Not really a fan of that style wheel, but its all personal preference.
Here are a few different options you can also consider, so you can get an idea of what different colors look on a black SL.
Brabus Monoblok VI (Gloss Black with chrome lip)
HRE 841R (Chrome finish)
Lowenhart LE1 (Machine/Black finish)
My suggestion would be to go with a Brushed Face wheel with a chrome.
Modulare M4 (brushed finish)

Just dont take a beautiful car and make it look "Ghetto" with the wrong wheels. The wheels should add to the look of the car. Not take your eye away because they are so hideous.

That is a very good point. I have always put a nice set of wheels on every car I have owned. This one has been the toughest decision because the car is both agressive and classic all at the same time. I admit, I really don't like what that all matte black wheel did for the car. It just didn't look right on the car. The examples above with a little chrome on the lip look great. By the way, I love the sl65 rims. How can I get a factory set of those?

From a girl's perspective...
I am a wheel freak and I haven't ever noticed a car with black wheels and thought it was the right look but I do like the black wheel with chrome lip more than the others...very sharp and still design focused.

Does anybody know anything about MHT wheels? My local wheel guy is suggesting MHT LLC five spoke forged rims. Are they good quality? I know way more about Porsche stuff than parts for this car unfortunately. They can do the whole black barrels and face with the silver rim stripe. Second question is does putting aftermarket wheels and tires on the car change the handling characteristics significantly. I know unsprung weight and all is a factor. But a wider 11 inch rear rim, larger tires, 20 inch diameters, etc. What's the thoughts and guys experience with this. Thanks for all the help guys.

i noticed a difference with my 20z .... made the car abit slower ... but man do i still kill everything out there 
.regardless wat u put on this car ...this car doesnt mind weight.
just put watever rim on ..... if ur gonna use this car as a track car then just leave the stock wheels on but get good proformance tires and ur good .

my wheels aint that heavy too begin with ...... i love my wheels ... i still get killer take offs and zooming top speeds without any shakes . best part there ****en solid too look @ and make the SL look even cleaner
