i got the guys number at work, he was highly recommened on this forum and on benzworld. I just had to use it the other day.....i had the 40k mile service completed and the valve covers were leaking they said, 100.00 deductible and the insurance covered the other 600 and change. Service manager just called them and they immediately approved it, waited two days for dealer to clear funds and they fixed it

SO GLAD i got the damn warranty
Glad that worked out for you, Drhodes, but I'm surprised at the cost of the repair. Replacing the valve cover gaskets is about $50 in parts and a couple hours of labor. They must have done something quite a bit more substantial for the total bill to run over $700.

yes, valve cover gaskets are $75 or so (OEM) and the procedure is listed at 3 hours. at $130/hour labor this is approx $500 tops.

on the topic - i would never own a high-priced german car without a good warranty. the cars are complicated and most of their problems (electrical in nature) are above the paygrade of your average neighborhood mechanic and the dealer is very expensive.

2003 sl 55 out of warranty

I'm purchaseing a SL55 Lemon law buyback in CA. I'm in Texas.

Can I get a extended warranty from MB? or do i have to go to a thrid party.

I use to sell mercedes so I know the problems service has with them.

any recomendations of a Warranty company to get a warranty.

I've heard of third party warranty not covering parts because it was not on their list of covered parts.

Check Fidelity

Both Mercedes dealers here use them for third party.

I have used SGI owned by Mercury for warranty on other MB's. I will check out Fidelity as well or any other recommendations- does anyone know if you can purchase Fidelity or a good 3rd party outside of going through a dealership?

Anyone have experience with Fidelity and claims on stuff like IC pumps or electric parts?

You know, the stuff that actually breaks often on these 55 cars.
