hah, interesting that you pointed this out. It was one of the very few things i waited til the last minute to decide on.
The deciding factor being the new SL63's more aggressive styling, the fact that it has reminders of AMG on it everywhere, i went with carbon fibre.
I think either is a great choice.

Is there any way to just flash my COMAND with the software from the GL450? Is it *physically* missing *hardware* to have a working congestion/traffic monitor? If its not physically missing a piece of hardware, then a software update should introduce this feature, no?

i originally like white car on red very much... but now for some reason i got that connected to your face in my subconscious... i don't think i can buy any white car on red anytime soon... thank u for that again !!!

I am sure this is the service I saw when I first turned the COMAND sytem on in my SL63. It was when I was activating my Sirius and Tele-aid subscriptions. My COMAND screen showed that I had traffic and weather, but once I activated Sirius, it went away.
Maybe our COMANDS have the software, which is why I saw these services on the screen, but our COMANDS don't have the traffic tuner. Once I activated Sirius, that option went away on my car's COMAND screen. So, Fantasm, we might need traffic tuners to get this service. Read about it here:

Great looking cars! I wasn't a fan of the 63 until I drove one.... what a great car. And then we started dialing in the ECU's and made them even better. I just might have to sell my trusty SL55 and get a 63!

Is there any mods that can accomplished without hindering the warranty? Better yet, is there something i can do to ensure that all that power i already have isn't wasted? Sometimes i feel the tires are spinning, the rear wheels fighting to put all that power to the ground. If i added more power, i feel it would really be interesting to see if in fact it would help my 0-60 time.
